Muscle Tower makes its first appearance in Dragon Ball Chapter 56, published in the 1986 #06 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump. ## Overview Muscle Tower is a tower with six floors,[[1]](#cite_note-chp59-1) located near Jingle Village in the northern region of Planet Earth. In Age 750, Muscle Tower is occupied by the Red Ribbon Army's White Corps, led by General White. They know there is a Dragon Ball in the area, and force the men of Jingle Village to help them look for it by taking the village's mayor hostage. He is held captive at the top floor of Muscle Tower. Son Goku's quest for his grandfather's keepsake Dragon Ball leads him to this area, and he ends up lying frozen in the snow.[[2]](#cite_note-chp56-2) When he is helped by Sno and her mother, residents of Jingle Village, Goku offers to go beat up the Red Ribbon Army as thanks.[[3]](#cite_note-chp57-3) Though Sno and her mother express doubt that one boy can take on an army, Goku makes his way to the top floor of Muscle Tower and rescues the mayor with the help of Artificial Human No. 8.[[4]](#cite_note-chp66-4) Exclusively in the anime's version of events, No. 8 also destroys the tower by punching holes in it at the base so that it topples over.[[5]](#cite_note-ep41-5) ## Floors Diagram of Muscle Tower from Dragon Ball Chapter 59's title page. ### Ground Floor The infantry waiting room (歩兵 控え室 Hohei Hikaeshitsu) is on this floor, which is never seen in Dragon Ball, as Son Goku uses the Nyoi-Bō to leap up over the battlements outside and enters the tower on the second floor.[[3]](#cite_note-chp57-3) ### Second Floor The door Goku enters to get into Muscle Tower leads to the non-commissioned officers waiting room (下士官 控え室 Kashikan Hikaeshitsu). Four such officers await him, who ask General White if they may kill the kid, which White says yes to over the intercom. The first grunt kicks at Goku, who dodges and takes the guy out with a kick of his own. Another soldier wields a knife, but Goku elbows him in the chest and knocks out another guy with a kick. The fourth non-commissioned officer fires a gun at Goku, but he uses an afterimage to trick and get behind the guy, before punching him through a table.[[6]](#cite_note-chp58-6) ### Third Floor The third floor is guarded by Sergeant Metallic, a robot that can shoot rockets from its mouth and keeps fighting even after Goku blows its head off with a Kamehameha. Metallic suddenly stops moving, though, because its battery runs out.[[1]](#cite_note-chp59-1) ### Fourth Floor Master Sergeant Murasaki guards the fourth floor, which is made to look like a forest. This allows Murasaki to hide among the trees as he tries to trick Goku with his ninja skills.[[7]](#cite_note-chp60-7) These keep backfiring on him, though, so he calls for his four brothers. When even the quintuplets together cannot defeat Goku, Murasaki resorts to opening the cage containing Artificial Human No. 8.[[8]](#cite_note-chp62-8) He orders No. 8 to kill Goku, but No. 8 refuses to do bad things. Murasaki threatens to blow him up with a remote control, but Goku smashes it out of his hands and knocks him out.[[9]](#cite_note-chp63-9) ### Fifth Floor Artificial Human No. 8 guides Goku to the top floor, helping him get through a maze and up a flight of stairs that passes by the inaccessible fifth floor.[[9]](#cite_note-chp63-9) They fall into it from a trap door in General White's control room, though, and the monster Buyon awaits them. Buyon is so jiggly that none of Goku's attacks hurt him, so Goku is at a loss until he remembers what Sno told him about cold and freezing. Goku punches a hole into the wall, letting in cold air from the outside, which freezes Buyon to the point that Goku can smash him to pieces.[[10]](#cite_note-chp65-10) ### Top Floor General White resides in his control room at the top of Muscle Tower, where he holds Jingle Village's mayor captive. He is no match for Goku, so he pretends to go free
